European mainstram media have just elected Ann Muzychuk as the new champion of women rights after she decided not to fly to Saudi Arabia to play the World Chess Tournament. She also stated in her facebook page that she didnt want to wear what the saudis want and - listen - "not feel herself a secondary creature". Last february nevertheless our ukranian heroin played another World Chess Event in Tehran (see the pics above and below), really standing for her principles, as you can read here.

The saudi event has been boycotted by another american top player - named Nakamura if someone cares - again with a public statement, probably to show solidarity with israeli and qatari players who were denied visas by saudi authorities.
No need to say all those people have spent their whole lives just looking at a board and happily play tournaments all over the year in Russia and China (and Iran too, as we have seen) without saying a word to support women rights, civil rights, children rights, free speech, free chess, anything.
